Rob is the Chief Executive Officer of Aspiriant. He began his career in the personal financial and investment planning profession in 1988. As CEO Rob serves as Chair of the Managing Committee and is a member of the Business Development Committee.
Over the course of his career, Rob has launched several successful businesses and business lines within larger organizations. Most recently, Rob was the co-founder and CEO of Quintile Wealth Management, an integrated wealth management firm established in 2002 in Los Angeles, which became Aspiriant after it merged with Kochis Fitz in 2008. As CEO of Quintile, Rob led the effort to build the firm from its inception into a 35-person firm with $2.5 billion of assets under management. During this same time, Rob was also the CEO of Empaxis, a data management business he helped to create in 2003 as a subsidiary of Quintile.
Prior to working at Quintile and Empaxis, Rob was the Managing Director of myCFO’s Los Angeles office, which addressed the unique needs of the ultra-affluent market. Prior to myCFO, Rob was a tax partner with Deloitte & Touche LLP in the Los Angeles office and head of its Technology Industry Practice for the Southwest Region.
During his eleven years at Deloitte & Touche, Rob focused on serving the planning needs of family-owned businesses and their owners, and specialized in advising families on how best to manage these highly appreciated illiquid assets in the context of their personal wealth and taxation. During his tenure, Rob advised many families on the complex issues related to events such as succession of the business, mergers, acquisitions, and initial public offerings, and helped many of them successfully transition to managing their liquid wealth.
Rob holds a BS degree in Economics and Finance, with an emphasis in business administration, from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a California Certified Public Accountant, and is a member of the University of California-Los Angeles Economics Council. Rob frequently speaks at industry conferences and the Anderson Graduate School of Management, and has taught at the University of Southern California.
